Gator

24” x 36”

Oil on canvas.

2022.

I was commissioned by my sister to make something fun and funky for her new home. We’re Louisianans so a gator immediately came to mind. I love the way I was able to use brushstrokes to imitate texture. I didn’t draw every scale of the gator but your mind fills in the gaps. I learned what a prismatic progression is, and specifically that as long as you get the tones right, your painting reads…a purple gator it is!
